Mother Earth Nature Walk
Escorted by your Aboriginal Guide, you will participate in a Mother Earth Nature Walk. Learn the identification of various local plant species and be given an explanation of their uses in traditional cooking and the medicinal properties which they may contain.
Program runs Monday through Friday (AM)
Ojibway Traditional Craft
Under the expert guidance of a skilled craftsperson, try your hand at a small bead and leather craft item.(medicine pouch or dreamcatcher)
Program runs Monday through Friday (PM)
Graphic Design Through Native Eyes
Tour an Aboriginal-owned graphic printing operation. Learn about local woodland design and motifs. Create your own silkscreen keepsake, such as a t-shirt, handbag or wall hanging.
Program runs Tuesday through Thursday (AM)
Bannock Making
Learn how to cook "bannock" over an open fire while your hosts share their knowledge of local Aboriginal history and culture. Enjoy the traditional bread of the region as your teachers are well-known as making the "best bannock in northern Ontario!"
Program runs Tuesday and Wednesday (PM)
Spirit Rock Paintings
Learn about Aboriginal culture as you create a painted "Spirit Stones." Local Aboriginal artists will guide you step by step as they offer an interpretive look into Aboriginal traditions and culture. Program runs Thursday (PM).
Hoop Dancing
Learn about the significance and symbolism of the Hoop Dance from the perspective of the Aboriginal People of North America. Your teacher has been gifted with theses special teaching which he has shared amongst the people of the area producing "World Champion Hoop Dancers"! These teachings include actual dance lessons.
