Educational Tours Your journey begins as soon as you arrive to the heart of Manitoulin Island and the First Nation community of M ’Chigeeng. Your first stop is at the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation, a state-of the-art heritage museum reflecting the philosophy of the Anishnaabe way of life; having no ending and no beginning and everything being interconnected. Be greeted at the eastern doorway by a depiction of the spirit “Shaman Family”. Meet your GSCT Tour Leader and become familiarized with your group’s itinerary as well as any visitor information including photography restrictions, etc.. The tour begins with a viewing of the healing lodge followed by an introduction to the museum. Students are provided the opportunity to view displayed artworks and film footage in the rotunda. Gift shop and washroom facilities available. Following the tour of the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation, students will
commence the next portion of their group tour with a choice of one
of the following options: Student Package 1: Ojibwe Traditional Crafting
Seven Grandfather Teachings Scavenger Hunt Be escorted by your Interpretive Guide(s) and using the buddy system, students will learn about the Seven Grandfather Teachings as they are led on a fun filled activity. For each of the items discovered on the trail, students will learn the symbolisms of these items. All participants must be equipped with running shoes or hiking boots.
