The Hiking Excursion of the Cup & Saucer Trail
This itinerary begins with an official welcome and greeting 'Anishnaabe Style' by a local Chief along with The Great Spirit Circle Trail representatives.
Following this brief welcome will be a guided twenty minute bus transfer from the downtown Little Current pier to the base of the Cup and Saucer trail located in the heart of Manitoulin Island.
This unique hiking trail offers a panoramic view of over 35 miles from 250 foot high cliff lookouts. The hike takes about one hour to reach the summit and another hour to hike back down to the base. Guests must be in good physical condition as some sections of the trail are steep. The entire trail is approximately 4 miles (6.5 km) in length and takes about 2 hours to complete. Along the hike, your Aboriginal guides will identify various species of flora and fauna to the guests. Guests will learn about the traditional uses of many of the plant species by Anishnaabe people used for centuries in their cooking and for medicinal properties. Upon arrival of the summit, guests are provided with spectacular scenery and panoramic photo opportunities. To view a map of the trail click here.
Upon descent of the trail, guests will delight at the sampling of Traditional Aboriginal Appetizers of the Wilderness to include locally smoked rainbow trout, bannock, pure Canadian maple syrup and strawberry tea! All of these food items locally harvested from the wild!
