Press Room The Great Spirit Circle Trail Welcomes German Cruise Passengers Birch Island, September 19, 2005 – Representatives of The Great Spirit Circle Trail (GSCT) will once again be receiving German passengers of the MS Columbus, Hapag Lloyd Kruezfahrten line during their calls to Little Current on September 19th, September 23rd and October 6th 2005. Visitors will participate in shore excursions showcasing the local Anishnaabe culture at the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation and Immaculate Conception Church in M'Chigeeng, witness a fully interpreted powwow dance performance as well as have the option of hiking on the Cup and Saucer Hiking Trail or taking in a round of golf at Rainbow Ridge Golf Course in Manitowaning. This is the second year that The Great Spirit Circle Trail has been contracted to host shore excursions for the Hapag Lloyd Kreuzfahrten line and is a direct result of the contacts and relationships developed at international trade shows the past several years. The Great Spirit Circle Trail is a cooperative tourism marketing initiative aimed at promoting Aboriginal tourism and increasing business opportunities in the member First Nations which include Sagamok, Whitefish River, Aundeck Omni Kaning, M'Chigeeng, Sheguiandah, Sheshegwaning, Zhiibaahaasing, and Wikwemikong. The Great Spirit Circle Trail which was established in 2000 offers nature based tourism from an Aboriginal perspective on the largest fresh water island in the world known as Manitoulin Island and the Sagamok region.
