Powwow Dance Styles

Men's Northern Traditional

Men's Northern TraditionalThrough the steps and movement of this dance, the dancer tells the story of their exploits in battle and hunting expeditions.

The men who carry on this dance tradition uphold dance ways which have been passed down through the ages.

Men's traditional dancers wear beautiful sunburst bustles of eagle feathers or other feathers around the dancer's waist. Beaded moccasins, cuffs, vest and belt, porcupine roaches, bone breastplates, war shields and dance staffs and bags form important parts of the dancer's regalia.
