Powwow Dance Styles

Dance StylesUnveiled in the summer of 2005, The Great Spirit Dancers have been offering interpretative dance performances and regalia making demonstrations daily Monday through Thursday at the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation and Fridays onboard the MS Chi Chimaun ferry traveling from Tobermory to South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island.

The Great Spirit Dancers are all young people from the surrounding First Nations who share their love of dancing and their knowledge of the dance traditions and songs with people from all over the world.  The following is a brief overview of the various men’s and lady’s dance styles that are seen on the local powwow trail.
